Blizzard revives legendary esports rivalries at Anaheim

BlizzCon 2026 will feature a mix of legacy esports showdowns and current championship qualifiers, blending nostalgia with high-stakes competition. The event, set for 12–13 September at the Anaheim Convention Center, will include the Blizzard Classic Cup Legacy Matches, where veteran players revisit historic rivalries across multiple games. The Anaheim Convention Center, a frequent host for major gaming gatherings, will serve as the venue.

The Legacy Matches highlight four iconic matchups. In StarCraft: Remastered, BoxeR and Nal_rA will face off, reuniting two of Brood War’s most dominant figures. StarCraft II returns with a Wings of Liberty-era rematch between IdrA and MCA, reigniting a rivalry that defined the game’s early competitive scene. These pairings recall some of the most watched battles from the early 2000s.

Heroes of the Storm makes its BlizzCon debut since 2018 with a rematch between Dignitas and Gen.G, featuring lineups of veterans from the 2018 Global Championship. Meanwhile, Warcraft III will see ToD and TeD compete in a match celebrating their championship pedigrees and long-standing rivalry.
